Pen Sketches

Angry Bride

Did 2 drawings today with pencil, sharpies and various pens.  I'm happy with the two sketches. I think they could be the beginning of an interesting series or use a piece for a painting.

Needle Felting

I went a little felt crazy yesterday. Well, I could have gone a lot more crazy, but regardless, I had fun FINALLY needle felting. I bought so many bats of felt in Mill Valley, CA about 5 years ago and for some reason, never made anything with them. I felted in college when I was a fibers major at MICA, but didn't really continue on.

Made a few cute birds in light of spring time finally coming up.  The temperatures dropping and I'm seeing sprouts popping up, so it put me in the mood.

Maybe it's all slightly kitchy with these birds and rabbits and bugs but it's totally fun and crafty and I think a good jumping off point to get my creative mind flowing and working into something more challenging.

Nostalgic for Easter

I must have been feeling nostalgic because all that's been on my mind is making Easter rabbits and chicks that reminded me of the books I read as a little girl.  Finally got myself some Sculpey, some tools and went for it.  I'm very pleased with the outcome!

Here is Peter Rabbit with his carrots and eggs.
Family of 4 Chicks. I'm in LOVE with the baby chicks!
I like to call him The Bachelor Chick

My work in a Celebrity Wedding Reporter!

Last September I was commissioned to make a wedding dress for a bride, along with a boutonniere made with fabric, a beautiful bouquet made from her mothers veil and a hair fascinator.  She just informed me that some photos from her wedding were featured in www.celebrityweddingreporter.com ! How cool!

Here's the LINK to the page.  The article is about unique shoes to wear at your wedding, but here's a great photo from the site!

a la Mad Men

I don't believe I've mentioned this before, but my fiance and I are completely obsessed with the AMC series hit Mad Men.  We love the story lines, acting, life style, time period and of course the clothes.  I even themed my Christmas gifts to him after Mad Men.  I didn't play it cheesy- it was things he needed like a gorgeous briefcase and fabulous bar set to name a few.

Anyways, I've been styling my personal look after the ladies of Mad Men like Betty Draper and Joan Harris.  For New Years 2011, I think I did a pretty good job of looking retro in an up-to-date way.

My look goes as follows:
Fur stole I purchased upstate at an outdoor market for $5!! My dress is from H&M during the holidays on sale for $20 (so in love) Stockings with seam running up back are from BCBGMaxAzria for $28.  My platform pumps are from Sam Edelman bought last year on sale, the last pair for $100.  Bag is from H&M bought many years ago for maybe $15.
This look doesn't look this inexpensive now does it?! SCORE AND SCORE.

Raging Sunset

I have a thing for sunsets. They are a unique work of art each day all over the world.  I probably have thousands of photos of the sun setting.  Back in October, on my way home from work, I was stopped dead in my tracks when I spotted this one over the harbor.  I've never seen anything like this. I don't believe I had my camera, but I had my Flip Cam so here is it.  The video's a little long but scan through it at least.  The sky looks like its on fire.  It's unreal.

BUTTER

My dad's Post Production company http://chimpduck.com/  produced  a I Can't Believe It's Not Butter commercial.  They have gotten SO many hits of people searching for "Butter Costumes" ...Why someone wants to dress up as a stick of butter, maybe a tub, for Halloween, is beyond me.  I appreciate all the unique costumes of course, but being a stick of butter never occurred to me.  I was challenged to create a butter costume to see who might purchase this bit of butter.  My friend James was more the happy to pose for me!

Here is it in all it's glory.

Should anyone have an interest in purchasing the stick of butter, let me know!
